A tactical pen (“self-defense pen” or “survival pen”) is a practical and legal low-profile self-defense tool, making it an ideal part of anyone’s everyday carry (EDC) arsenal. Tactical pens are often used by people who don’t want to carry a firearm or other noticeable self-defense weapon. They appear non-threatening and are easily carried on a belt, in pockets or inside a purse. Tac-Pens can be the perfect EDC option for smaller and elderly people, students on campus, or women walking alone at night to thwart any possible attack.
Tactical pens are sometimes referred to as a “survivor’s multi-tool” in that it serves a variety of uses. They are typically made from machined steel or aircraft-grade aluminum, which makes them a useful weapon for striking or jabbing an attacker. Of course, they can be used to write with, and the extra-sharp ballpoint can be used to defend against an attack. The built-in glass breaker can also be implemented to jab and puncture an assailant, as well as breaking a window to escape if the need arises.
How is a tactical pen used for self-defense? The blunt end can be used to strike an assailant with blunt force trauma (causing the least physical damage), while the pointed end can be used as a stabbing instrument to jab the most vulnerable parts of the attacker’s body (back of hand, eyes, nose, temple, throat, armpit, ribs, sternum, solar plexus or groin) in a more dangerous situation. The Tac-Pen should always be kept in a place where it can be retrieved immediately. It should be an integral part of anyone’s survival gear.
There are countless types and different manufacturers of tactical pens on the market. While the typical Tac-Pen offers extra ink cartridge refills and a glass breaker, some contain extra features such as a DNA collector, LED flashlight, whistle, screwdriver, bottle opener and other arrays of tools. So, what’s the best tactical pen for you? It really depends on what features you want. Take a look at some of these currently available on Amazon >>> Tactical Pens
